NEW READING SERIES CONTINUES FEB. 11

MR. BELLER’S NEIGHBORHOOD READING SERIES CONTINUING MARCH 11 AT MO PITKIN’S HOUSE OF SATSIFACTION!

The Webby Award-nominated website Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood has published stories with an autobiographical as well as geographical focus since 2000. In that spirit, the site takes over a space at Mo Pitkin’s the 2nd Sunday of every month.

Readers on March 11 are Kate Angus, Denise Campbell, and Joseph E. Scalia. The reading begins at 8:00 pm.

Kate Angus’s poetry and prose have appeared most recently in North American Review and Confluence. She has just returned to New York from a semester as the Writer in Residence at Interlochen Arts Academy in Northern Michigan.

Denise Campbell’s work has appeared on Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood since 2002. She is a graduate of the Columbia University School of General Studies Writing Program and is currently attending graduate school at Temple University, where her emphasis is on the African-American novel.

Joseph E. Scalia is the author of two novels, FREAKs and Pearl, and one short story collection, No Strings Attached. Brooklyn Family Scenes, a collection of short stories and poems, will be published by Tawny Girl Press this year. Joseph has taught junior and senior high for the last 33 years.

Mo Pitkin’s House of Satisfaction is located at 34 Avenue A between Second and Third Streets. The event is free and open to the public.

The start of a new reading series

It is our enormous pleasure to announce that Sunday, Nov. 12 at 8:00pm, four of the many outstanding contributors to Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood will be reading live at Mo Pitkin’s House of Satisfaction in the East Village.

This is the first in a monthly series of collaborations between the Neighborhood and Mo Pitkin’s that will continue as long as possible.

Even though the reading series has not actually begun yet, many critics–including Thomas Beller, Mr. Murphy, and Abigail Frankfurt–are calling the series “mind-blowing” and “totally outstanding”. On Nov. 12, the readers will be Hal Sirowitz, the controversial Fran Giuffre, Kelly McMasters, and Thomas R. Ziegler. Neighborhood managing editor/contributor Patrick Gallagher will host the proceedings.

The event starts at 8:00 pm, 34 Avenue A between 2nd and 3rd.
